Talking of Iran and Turan

Where is this place called Turan?

In the classic literature of the world there is a book in Persian called the Shahnamah (alright Shahnameh). It is famous for its grandeur of narration (no, no reference to post modern intricacies of the word narration). King Faridoon is impressed with the bravery of his Toor (Tur) when he fights the dragon that has attacked him and his brothers. Later on the king divides his kingdom and gives Turkistan and China to Toor. That is Central Asia. That is Turan for you.

Question : Considering the services rendered to Islam by Central Asia and the sacrifices made by those people why is it undesirable to talk of Turan?
