We have seen a brief an succinct summary of orientalism by professor Akhtar-ul-Wasey (see here). Things have not changed qualitatively but quantitatively they have changed in present times. Orientalism is still surviving in the hands of a few furious souls ( see Contemporary Critics ) who, though entertained by the west, are not looked at by their own society with the same confidence as the classic orientalists-whatever be the reason. One field where orientalism seems to be receding is the field of translation of the Holy Qur'an. See this (or here, or here ) article by Dr Abdur Raheem Kidwai, a professor of English at AMU, Aligarh (or by another author). The former article has developed into a book by now.
