 Muslims and Education

Till seventh century Hijri Muslim society remained ahead of other societies in the field of gathering and imparting knowledge and it acquired those stations from which Europe, later on, began its march in the field of knowledge and experimentation. It is regrettable that with the progress of Europe it became the inauguration of stagnation and delay in Muslim society in the field of knowledge. It continues unabated till today but to some extent some awakening has started. Now educational and practical efforts only can bring Muslim society to its former position of distinction. But for this concern and thought, struggle, organization and wisdom is required. This is particularly so in India where Muslims have to surge forward in the field of education by their own efforts preserving their cultural distinction. This requires serious thought and attention because education is not a facile act. This is an act of shaping human beings, to polish human abilities and to make them active and beneficial. It has deep connections with emotional training. Education is that action which changes man from an ignorant creation to a cultured and high quality creation.
