To build your character hand over yourself to somebody.
(According to an authentic saying of the Prophet Mohammed, may Peace and Blessings of Allah Almighty be upon him, the best thing a person can present on the day of judgment is his or her own character. The importance of good character, therefore, is evident. Even those people who are not, unfortunately, too concerned with the hereafter understand the value of a good character. The method to achieve is called the pathway (as-sulook, the sulook). This is the method of handing over oneself to an expert (kamil=perfect) Shaikh. The sign of expertise is the level of incorporation of Sunnah in his life.
