Another Refrain

The Last of the Early Elders Hazrat Maulana Qari Amir Hasan Sahab, may Allah Almighty provide us his blessings for a long time to come, usually concludes his supplications with the following refrain. "O Allah, whatever (life) has been spent that is gone-give us the opportunity to spend the rest of it according to Sunnah. Provide us with peace and calm in the city. Provide your blessings in the business and livelihood for those of us who are having difficulties in them. Arrange for the payment of the debts of those who are indebted. Provide relations according to Sunnah for those who are worried about the marriages of their children.Today the characteristic obedience is leaving our lives. We follow neither our mothers, nor our fathers, nor of our teachers and nor of our spiritual guides. If we are obedient then we are to our baser self-who is our worst enemy. O Allah, save us from the machinations of our baser self and Satan the cursed. Provide us exit from this world with complete faith at our appointed time.
