There has been a pious person by the name of Abdul Azeem Dabbagh (RA). He was unlettered but became famous for being a gnostic, a person with affinity matters divine. A person got the idea to test him. He collected some Arabic material and approached him and said that I want to read something to you. Will you listen to it? The Elder agreed. The man started reciting is material. Stop, said the Elder. You are reciting from the Holy Qura'n. Recite more. After some time the Elder said stop again. This time you are reciting Prophetic Traditions. The reciter was stopped for the third time. This time you are reciting writings of some Philosopher. The man was surprised. How do you know? You have not studied these things! The Elder said that when you were reciting the Holy Qura'n I could see lot of Shining (Lights, noor) in it. In case of the Prophetic traditions the Lights were still there but they were less. Finally in the third part there was suffocating darkness, it could be some thing from a philosopher only.
This is a story from our times. The progenies of this pious man are still there in Madinah, The Bright.
