Maulana Qasim Nanotwi (RA) in Aligarh

Late Maulvi Sufiyan Sahab taught Saadi's Gulistan to Miyan. Maulvi Sufyan Sahab's son Mr Ajmal has retired from the workshop of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at AMU. His son is a Qazi in City (that is Aligarh city). Maulvi Sufyan was son of Late Maulvi Usman Sahab of Upper Fort Aligarh.

Maulvi Abdul Jalil Sahab of Aligarh participated in the revolt of 1857AC against the British. He was blown by Gun. The stories of these sacrifices are buried in Urdu and Persian documents of that time and in books of these languages. Only lately some curtain is being lifted from them for the readers of English language.

After the martyrdom of Maulvi Abdul Jalil Sahab the question of the education of his infant son Usman arose. The choice fell upon the then young and brilliant Maulvi Qasim Nanotwi (RA). And he did come to teach the young one. The family still has the big wooden bench (takht) that was used by Maulana Qasim Nanotwi (RA) for teaching.
