Dr Anis Ahmed Shamsi

There is a sitting (majlis) regular with very dignified personality. That is Dr Anis Ahmed Shamsi. He has retired as a Chief Medical Officer from the Jawahar Lal Nehru Medical College, AMU, Aligarh. He dislikes, as every believer should, the questions like the following one, "Why should we keep our trousers above ankles?" In all probability Dr Sahab would say that it is not for us to ask such questions. We only have to follow the instructions. We must keep our trousers above ankles because our beloved Prophet (SAW) said so. Period.

Questions like above one are not asked by uneducated people. These are the educated people who ask such questions. Education may or may not lead to enlightenment. That is why our beloved Prophet (PBUH) supplicated for refuge of Lord Most High from the knowledge that is not beneficial. May Lord Almighty grant refuge to all believers from the knowledge that does no good to us.

Imam Ghazali (RA) has included questions of uneducated people about God Almighty among twenty harms of tongue. May be in our times we have to include the questions asked by educated people about religion as the next item in that list. May Lord Most High grant us refuge from asking such questions. Ameen.
