Benefits of Ramadan

Marriage is a necessity. It is obligatory to fulfill one's necessities. But this too is a fact of life that not all marriageable people have the resources  to go for it. What should such a person do in view of the fact that a necessity will make its presence being felt? The beloved Prophet, may Peace and Blessings of Allah Almighty be upon him, said that abundance of fasting breaks the physical desire. This is what is prescribed by our elders to young people in such situations.

A question arises. What about earlier people. How did they cope with this situation? Surely people were human mortals even before the completion of the religion of Allah Almighty. They had desires and many of them must have found themselves in a similar situation.

This question got answered when Maulana Mufti Arshad Sahab of Bajheri, Muzaffarnagar, UP came to meet Hazrat Shaikh, may Allah Almighty sustain his blessings. Like Hazrat Shaikh Maulana too is a Caliph of Shah Hardoi Maulana Abrarul Haque Sahab, may Allah fill his tomb with light. Hazrat Shaikh showed regard to Maulana and another chair was arranged for him to sit together with Hazrat Shaikh. Normally the sitting (majlis) is just that-a sitting, even Hazrat Shaikh sits on the floor on a soft rugs. When a Shaikh of stature comes he is shown regard and is asked to share the rug with Hazrat Shaikh. During a sitting Hazrat Shaikh also uses a soft support for the back. At present, owing to some joint problems, Hazrat Shaikh presides the sittings in a chair.

After his blessed words Hazrat Shaikh asked Maulana to say few words. The Maulana expounded on the verse from the Holy Qur'an that tells the believers that fasting has been prescribed for you as it has been to the early people so that so become pious.

Thus the object of Ramadan is to become pious and we have an answer to our question too. Fasting has been the prescription for earlier people too. Al-Pure is Allah Almighty, Exalted.
