Gift and Gift

Dr Mujtaba Nadwi has compiled some booklets based on the sayings of Hazrat Shaikh (DB). Some of the associates got the sets of these six booklets. Also a new booklet on Prayer has been chosen for Majlis today.
Your sinner correspondent was lucky to get that too.
Also there was a private conversation about Dr Ali Malpa Sahab (DB) of Bhatkal a caliph of Muhi-us-Sunnah (RA). See here.

Life of Beloved Prophet (PBUH)

It should be slightly less short. Particularly some of the names should be named. But this should not be taken as a criticism. Please find below links to various topics on events in the life of beloved Prophet (PBUH) being developed by brother Ahmed at Haq Islam. The effort is all the more appreciable in the face of the fact that the author is a student and has to take care of his wife and child too. May Allah (SWT) reward him amply.

Krodon ho ke bhi  hum log ghutne tek bethe hain,

I do remember that army of just 313.)

Insight: A Necessity in Times of Dajjal

Insight: A Necessity in Times of Dajjal
Maulana Abdus Sattar Sahab (DB)

There is eye sight(basaarat). Without it we shall fall into the first pit. Allah (SWT) has given it to His friends and foes, servants and truants alike. Then there is insight (baseerat). This is what becomes essential in times of Fitna. For example in times of Dajjal. In such times eyesight is of little help. One should cultivate insight for such times. With insight you'll recognize fitna even when it is cloaked in a thousand garbs. Noble Prophet (PBUH) said that there will be a time when there will only be deceptions-times when truth and lie, trust and breach of it will be hopelessly mixed. In such times you'll need insight more than eyesight. Beloved Prophet (PBUH) said that beware of the acumen (firasat) of a believer-he looks at the things with the Light of Allah (SWT). This acument is what we need in treacherous times. It is not attained by good deeds (ibaadat, tasbeehat, nawafil) but Taqwah. If you fear Allah (SWT), that is, if you have taqwah then He(SWT) shall make you perceptive, grant you insight (furqan). Taqwah, that is avoiding sins, is that brings insight. It is destroyed by evil glances and illegal(haram) diet. In modern times we are deprived of insight. These are treacherous times. Now is when we need it most. One can see this lack of insight when we decide about the education of our children or selection of a daughter in law for the house. It is worrying and amazing at the same time. To taste the sweetness of insight (baseerat) just avoid evil glances and haram food for forty days and tell me. This is what I tell to those youth who come and ask strange questions after having stung by the modern surroundings. Because of this environment they love the unchaste and dislike the righteous. Fortunate are those parents whose youth is protected whose girls are veiled and boys chaste.
Beloved Prophet (PBUH) asked what will become of you when your youth is unchaste and women cross limits? Companions (RA) asked whether this will come to pass. Beloved Prophet (PBUH) said it will be worse some times even taufeeq to repent will be removed from people and some times even faith, eeman will be in danger-what else do you expect when you'll stop demanding the good and forbidding the evil? Companions (RA) were distressed and spent their night in crying and repentance. These are the times in which we present Muslims are living. Today there many who call towards evil and very few to protect from it. When a person is stopped from evil he starts fighting back. The distinction between good and bad has become obliterated. These are the times when we need insight (baseerat). Without it we are prone to fall into fitna. Today our family is under distress. Girls are giving pains to mothers and boys to fathers. Friends are being given preference over parents. Beloved Prophet (PBUH) said that there will be a time when music will be heard from every house. We are living in those times. We hear music from every direction-even from the houses of those people who frequent the mosques fives times a day. When shayateen get their ghiza then problems will not dissolve but will stand tall and high. People are stoping Mercy of Allah from entering their houses. The lack of insight is manifest from another angle. Beloved Prophet (PBUH) said that there will be a time when the leaders of community will be lax in character and common men will be contemptible. We see that now. Leaders survival itself depends upon perverting the insight of the community. These are the times when people eat usury, drink alcohol, man imitate woman and woman imitate man. Honour of the righteous is not protected.

The Companion Named in Holy Qur'an

There is only one Companion who has been named explicitly in the Holy Qur'an. Even the Rightly Guided caliphs are not named in the Holy Book. Noble Prophet (PBUH)'s cousin came in his marriage. She later on joined the rank of mothers of faithful.

After Haj

The sittings for few days after Hazrat Shaikh (DB)'s return from Haj were rather short. During Haj there was a bout of fever also as has been reported earlier.

Power of Silence

A silence of a moment will deflect a thousand troubles.

Keeping Track of Prayer Times

There was a Mufti of Dar-ul-Uloom, Deoband. He used to reach the classes before time. He knew the prayer times of all the mosques on the route and would calculate that if I start at this time then I shall get that prayer in that mosque. We too should make use of this planning. Think like this that if I start now then I shall get that prayer in that mosque.

(Sitting (majlis) on Thursday, December 23, 2010)

After 1857

That is our problem. In 1857 Scholars and Elders were our leaders and Imams. Christians have craftily filled our hearts with their hatred. Now even an illiterate like me says that the whole problem is because of these Maulwis. If they are corrected then everything will be alright. I am in the house of Allah. I can tell it on oath that the day our relationship with Scholars becomes proper that day all troubles will be removed. Take every step after consultation with the Scholars.

Few Words From Maulana Tariq Jamil Sahab (DB)

Here are few words from the beginning of the sermon at Punjab university.

(1) I can say it with full confidence that to raise slogans in a religious gathering is serious misdemeanour.  You have the full right to disagree with me but since you have called me therefore to make an allowance for me is incumbent on you. Today the enthusiasm in raising slogans was a bit overboard.
(2) Except for man the rest of the creation is very well educated. You might add a Dr before somebody's name but a Verse pushed man back. It says, "We have given man very little knowledge." A fetus inside the womb can not comprehend mother. Even if man comes with the age of Noah (AS) even then he can not gather the complete knowledge of Lord's Creation. (Today even Jewish people are distributing degrees of Islam.)
(3) So we should follow those people who have knowledge. Allah (SWT) has called Qur'an the light (noor).
(4) The Holy book has the phrase no doubt in the beginning. The original word for doubt used in Arabic has a rather delicate texture. In a sense it is very fleeting indecision.

Free Will Versus Determinism

Too many people are confused about free will and determinism. That includes, unfortunately, Muslims. Following comments should be of help, Lord Most High willing.
(Translation and Comments by Abdullah Yusuf Ali)
Surah Al Muddaththir (74)
54.  Nay, this surely is an admonition:
55.  Let any who will, keep it in remembrance!

C5807. The Qur'an itself is the admonition-the latest among the revealed Books of Allah. If man has the will to learn, he will keep the Message always before Him, and Allah's grace will help him to carry it out in his conduct.

56.  But none will keep it in remembrance except as Allah wills:
He is the Lord of Righteousness, and the Lord of Forgiveness.

Surah Al Takwir (81)
27.  Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds:
28.  (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight.

C5996.  Allah is the Cherisher of the Worlds, Lord of Grace and Mercy, and His guidance is open to all who have the will to profit by it. But that will must be exercised in conformity with Allah's Will (verse 29). Such conformity is Islam.
Verse 28 points to human free-will and responsibility; verse 29 to its, limitations. Both extremes, viz.,: cast-iron Determinism and an idea of Chaotic Free-will, are condemned.

29.  But ye shall not will Except as Allah wills,
        The Cherisher of the Worlds.

Dawat-ul-Haq on the Net

The new informal information that was received yesterday is that the Urdu monthly Dawat-ul-Haq that we have earlier talked about several times will soon be available on internet. People from South Africa, Gulf and Europe were bugging the editorial team for an online edition. So soon you should, Lord Most High willing, get it on internet.

Dr Nadir Ali Khan Sahab (DB) : Tell me very honestly how many times have you read Uswa-e-Rasool-e-Akram (SAW).
Answer : Not yet.
Dr NAK (DB) : (Addressing a third person) You see? (Dekh rahe hain Dr Sahab.)
